WORD FROM THE COACHES
A big weekend for everyone involved in Ironman Melbourne. From our 50 athletes that raced, to our 100+ volunteers working on our aid stations, to those who came along and supported and cheered on their fellow Tri Alliance Athletes. As Coaches, we are extremely proud of each of you. Your commitment to the Tri Alliance family is amazing and makes us proud to share this triathlon lifestyle and experience with each of you. You should all be extremely proud of yourselves as we are of you.
We had four athletes qualify for the Ironman World Championships, along with PB’s from those returning from last year and athletes own individual personal goals and achievements reached, it was a fantastic day all round! Click here to continue reading our race report and full athlete results from the day.
With Ironman Fever over for the year – it’s now time to refocus back on the last race of the Victorian Gatorade/Active Feet Series this weekend – incorporating the Tri Kids Jelly Belly Event!
It’s the final chance for our athletes to hit their race goals – particularly those who have been focusing on the Sprint/Olympic Distance this Season. We have the last of our TRY-the-TRI groups doing their first race, and we have some of our athletes who are bringing their kids down to enjoy the Tri Kids Race. And as an added bonus have encouraged all our Ironman Athletes to come along to the race to repay the favour and support our Short Course athletes racing – so keep an eye out for the Ironman Cheer squad (and if you are lucky you may even see some of them running around on course with you supporting from within!) J So it’s going to be another cracking day for Tri Alliance and Short Course Racing! Click here for race day information and wave start times.
Good luck to each of our athletes who head off in the Championship Waves this weekend and are vying for Series Podium Places, including:

We also had a number of other athletes finish in the top 10 of their age groups, and looking for a podium finish to cap off the season, so good luck to you all and to everyone racing! Click here to view Series Points Standings.
It’s still not too late to enter! Don’t miss the last race of the season, the weather is looking great, so join in on the fun! Online entries have now closed, however you can head down on Saturday and get your last entry in. We’d love to see as many of our athletes out racing – and what a great way to finish off the season!
MORDIALLOC OLYMPIC DISTANCE
For those are are keen for one last race, we’ll be joining our partners Bicycles Inc and Mizuno Running at the last race of the Team Up Series at Mordialloc. On offer is an enticer (mini), Sprint and Olympic distance. We already have a big crew heading along, so why not come and join us! Click here to read more and to enter.
NO SWIM SESSIONS THIS FRIDAY MORNING
With all our athletes now pretty much in either taper or recovery, there will be NO coached swim sessions at MSAC OR NORTHCOTE. For those who swim at Mentone, the session will still be on, so feel free to head down for a nice light swim session. If you are wanting to get a swim in, feel free to head to either venue still, as lanes will be available and you will still be able to access via your Tri Alliance card.
APRIL TRAINING TIMETABLE – RECOVERY & TRANSITION PHASE
For the majority of our athletes March marks the end of the season and time to recover and have some time off from triathlon. A chance to have a break from the ‘norm’, catch up with friends, have some FUN while still maintaining fitness. So we have again developed a fantastic line-up of sessions and activities during April to allow just that. Sessions will be fun based with a social element, but still allow you to push yourself at times to maintain a base fitness. For those who are still in training for events such as Port Mac or Cairns, please ensure you speak to a Coach in regards to a specific program to lead you into your events.
Click here to continue reading. If you are unsure about this phase of the program, or need to speak to a Coach, please call the office on 9645 2223.
CYCLING SKILLS AND TECHNIQUE PROGRAM
Are you in need of better cycling skills and technique?
Tri-Alliance has designed a beginner – intermediate 6 week specific program that will have you feeling more confident and technically efficient on the bike. Sessions will provide coaching advice, technique and tips on bike equipment including basic servicing, signalling and road rules, group riding skills and etiquette, hill climbing and cornering technique.

SUPPORT A GREAT CAUSE!
I’m walking 100km in Oxfam Trailwalker Melbourne, 2 – 4 May, to challenge myself and to help fight poverty around the world.
I will be completing this challenge as a team of 4 ladies coming together to be called – 3 Girls & a Princess !!
Raising just $250 for Oxfam Trailwalker is enough money to provide orphaned and vulnerable children and their families with nourishing meals for a whole month at a South African crèche. So we are asking for your kind donation in helping us reach our overall target of $5000 – this is going to go a long way! Just $10 or $20 from some of you will be a great help!
Thank you for supporting my 100km Oxfam Trailwalker challenge and for fighting poverty – 3 Girls & a Princess link for any donation
Also like us on Facebook and follow how we are progressing with our training leading up to the day. Appreciate all your support.
Regards Lidia Ursini
