WORD FROM THE COACHES

What a fabulous night on Thursday Night’s Combo, which included Mizuno Shoe Trials, the boys from Bicycles Inc down and our Monthly Athlete Dinner as a casual BBQ post training. It is such a great atmosphere when so many of our athletes get together for one big training session a week and really is the only time when all levels and abilities are out there training together. Top work everyone in the heat of the afternoon.

Our Coaches also had a catch up with the Trent and team from RunningFit and Mark and his crew from Mizuno at RunningFit’s location in the City – 170 Queen St on Friday Night as part of their regular Coaches Catch-Up. Some of you may have met Mark from Mizuno on Thursday Night and be very impressed that he recently ran in the Osaka Marathon, and ran a lazy 2:20 Marathon. We hope you are impressed – because we are! And this just proves to us the team at Mizuno not only talk the talk, they walk the walk and mean business when it comes to running and shoes. So make sure you pop in and see the the guys at RunningFit for a personal running gait analysis to find the best shoe for your feet.

During the week we had Tri Alliance athlete Alison Faulkner and her mum (and thousands of others!) complete the Great Victoria Bike Ride. Soaking up some fantastic riding and scenery across country Victoria and enjoying the company of family and friends as they went along. Well done girls – awesome team effort. 🙂 (And we’re sure Alison is trying to convince her mum to enter a triathlon!)

On Sunday, the Sussans Women’s Fun Run was on again, with close to 5,000 women running with friends, family and loved ones in support of the Breast Cancer Network. Our 6 Pace runners had a great time supporting the girls in their goals and the smiles on the faces after the event was priceless! Click here to view our pictures from the event. And a big thank-you to those athletes who helped Marshall the event and in doing so scored themselves an entry into a Gatorade/Active Feet Race!

We also had a few athletes who went down and raced in the Brighton Enduro Triathlon on Sunday. Well done to those who raced on what we here was a great race.

Coaches Ollie, Sarah and Greg will be in Busselton for Ironman Western Australia for the next week, with Greg and 9 of our other Victorian athletes competing and a further 26 from our Queensland Squad, so it is set for a big weekend ahead!

IRONMAN WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Tri Alliance will take over it’s biggest contingent to Ironman Western Australia (better know as Ironman Busso as the race is held in the beautiful sea side town of Busselton)
From Victoria, Tri Alliance has 10 athletes racing – including a ‘first time Ironman’, a Pro Triathlete, a defending champion and Kona hopefuls.  And between them, there are years and years of training and Ironman racing combined.

TAUPO LONG COURSE | HALF

Kiwi Nick Sissons heads back to the land of Half Ironmans and will complete his 5th Half Ironman/Long Course event for the Season – and number 15 in his Long Course Career. The race is a 2km | 90km | 21.1km event held in Taupo, NZ. Nick did have a little mishap this week though and has sliced his foot open. We’re hoping it heals enough to complete the race, if not at least swim/bike. Best of luck Nick!

GATORADE RACE 2 – ELWOOD

We had some fantastic results from Race 1 at StKilda, and with only 3 short weeks in between races, the key is to freshen up, sharpen up and gear up for Race 2 next weekend. Being at Elwood – we’ll have a home ground advantage and is one of the biggest races for us as we lead into the Christmas Period (and our Christmas Party!)

Last race we had a number of athletes who didn’t have ‘Tri Alliance’ as their Club/Squad in the SuperSprint Profile so missed out on getting their results in our results page and also didn’t accumulation points for the Tri Club Competition. So make sure you login here and check your profile to ensure you don’t miss out.
