NOOSA TRIATHLON SOCIAL EVENTS
The Noosa Tri is only around the corner and we have organised some great social events for Tri Alliance members and their families to attend.
On the Saturday morning is a the pre race breakfast at the Noosa Surf Club from 8-10am. Then on the Sunday night is the after party at Laguna Jacks from 5.30pm to 11.30pm.
With our Tri Alliance cousins from Melbourne coming up it promises to be a massive weekend. We will have some great prizes from Mizuno to give out at the after party and will also be presenting a cheque to the Smile for Smiddy Foundation.
Tickets can be purchased by going to the events section on the website http://qld.tri-alliance.com.au/events/. We would love to see everyone heading to Noosa be part of the social side of things also. It is a great weekend away and the one opportunity each year that Tri Alliance members from Qld and Vic can get together.
SMILE FOR SMIDDY GARAGE SALE
The recent garage sale for Smile for Smiddy was a massive success. Over $15,000 was raised and the hard work of many Tri Alliance members and their families made this possible.
The team from Smile for Smiddy were so impressed that they would like to make it an annual event. So to make this happen we are forming a committee of Tri Alliance members to start planning for next years sale.
A couple of people have already committed to being on the committee but we still need a few more to make it happen. So if you are interested in being part of a great cause and have skills that you think would help then contact [email protected]
With the marketing from Smile for Smiddy and access to greater support we are very confident that next year’s garage sale will raise in excess of $50,000.
And while we’re on the topic of Smile for Smiddy registrations are now available for a spot on their ride to Townsville next year. Tri Alliance ambassador for 2012/13 Claire Schneider recently completed the 2013 ride and described it as truly life changing experience.

GOOD LUCK
We have a couple of athletes heading to Kona this weekend to compete in the IM World Championships, the Holy Grail of triathlon. Brisbane squad member Chris Bailey is off to Kona for the first time after he qualified at Cairns IM where he placed third in the men’s 35-39 age group.
On line member and Sunshine Coast local Robbie Andrews is going back for the second time after he won the 45-49 age group in Cairns. Robbie has a great preparation under on line coach Steve Gage and looking forward to his return to Kona.
There are also 3 athletes from Tri Alliance Victoria racing, Sarah Grove, Brett Archbold and Nathan Sims who all qualified at IM Melbourne.
Race day is Oct 13 and you can watch the whole coverage on Ironman.com. On behalf of the whole Tri Alliance team we wish everyone the best of luck.
