With no lycra in sight, plenty of sparkles and the beer and champagne flowing it was a fantastic night at The Landing for the Tri Alliance Qld End of Season Party. For the first year we had a more formal affair with a sit-down 2 course meal and drinks package set to the beautiful backdrop of the lights over the Brisbane River. With fantastic service, lovely meals and 114 people in attendance we will certainly be using this format for our End of Season awards in the future.

Congratulations to our major award winners this year:

  • Outstanding Male – Chris Bierton
  • Outstanding Female – Sam Beh
  • Masters Athlete – Jan Avery-Spoor
  • Rookie of the Year – Kristin Muir
  • Endurance Award – Kerri Spanner
  • Most Improved – Claire Lynch
  • Performance of the Year – Chris Bailey
  • Club Spirit – Michael Zink

Also announced were our Tri Alliance Qld Ambassadors:

  • Jan Avery-Spoor
  • Geoff Bartlett

Congratulations to all award winners on the night. We look forward to our first major race of the 2013/2014 season – the Sunshine Coast 70.3 in less than 12 weeks!

For the 2013/2014 it has been ruled by Triathlon Qld that all members of a club must be a member of Triathlon Qld to compete in affiliated events. The key reason for this is to ensure that all club members are covered by insurance for training and racing purposes which includes training outside of squad sessions.

Membership to Tri Alliance Qld will now be paid in the registration process with TQ. When you select the Club Membership option you will then be directed to select your Club and the associated membership fees will be included in your total registration cost. For the new season Tri Alliance Qld membership fees are $45 plus $120 for TQ membership.

There is a 28 day grace period for those new to triathlon but for those renewing their membership the new season starts on Monday 1st July. Please be prompt with renewing your membership as we will be required to follow up all members. All casual members that are attending cycling and running sessions are also required to sign up to TQ.

For the new season there will be an increase in training fees starting from the 1st August 2013. The fee structure is as follows:

  • Casual Fees $12
  • Ten Session Pass $100
  • Social Membership $23.50 per week
  • Unlimited Membership $30 per week

Note for Gold Coast squad members you can now buy a 5 or 10 session pool entry pass to avoid having to bring cash each time. The passes are the same price as single entry – $30 for 5, $60 for 10.

We will be holding a 2 or 3 night camp in Noosa at the RACV Resort on the weekend of the 17th/18th August. The 3 night camp will commence on the evening of Thursday 15th August with the 2 night camp on Friday 16th August. Camp will conclude at lunch on the Sunday.

The cost of the camp is $330 for 2 nights and $450 for 3 nights. This includes:

  • Accommodation;
  • Meals – Thursday dinner, Saturday dinner, Sunday lunch;
  • A Tri Alliance Camp pack valued at $100;
  • Seminars;
  • All training sessions and coaching support.
  • Option to include buffet breakfast on Friday and/or Saturday ($25 per head).

Please email [email protected] to register your attendance plus indicate whether you wish to attend for 2 or 3 nights.
