IRONMAN FEVER!

editedIMG_6358

The day is nearly here for the biggest triathlon (Ironman) race to hit Australia – Ironman Melbourne, for the second year running. Race will kick off at 7.20am for pro’s with our Age Groupers starting at 7.38am on Sunday morning. You can view the event timetable here.

The support our athletes have had leading into this race has been outstanding and race day again will be phenomenal for everyone involved.

We have 50 Tri Alliance Athletes on the starters list – just one less than last year. With 9 females and a massive 41 males. Cheering from the sidelines is going to be awesome again!

The training has been completed and they are now ready to race and can’t wait to get out there. It has taken a huge commitment, dedication, some tough choices (some would say sacrifices!) and a lot of mental strength for our athletes to get to the start line in Frankston this Sunday morning and race day is the cherry on top of one very large cake.  Let’s make it a day to remember! Good luck to all involved!

PORTARLINGTON GATORADE/ACTIVE FEET RACE 4Portarlington5

Portarlington is host to one of the most scenic triathlon’s in Victoria. Laid back seas side town, beautiful coastal views, friendly locals. You couldn’t pick a better location for Race 4 of the Gatorade Active Feet Series in Melbourne.

Team Tri Alliance loves having this race on the calendar – we’re sure more for the weekend away than anything! ;) But regardless of the motivations, our athletes always turn up in force and put on a good show for the spectators.

50 Tri Alliance athletes raced in total, including 44 in Gatorade Sprint and 6 in the Active Feet. We finished with 6 podiums, 3 fourth place getters, 5 fifths and and plenty of first timers to the distance.

Well done to everyone who raced and a big thanks to those who came down and cheered.

CHALLENGE BATEMANS BAY RACE REPORT – RYAN BOURKE
Coach Ryan Bourke had a smashing race on the weekend in not only completing – but winning his first Half Distance event in the time of 4:16! Ryan shares his race experience with us….
Challenge Batemans Bay was never in my racing plans until 6 weeks out from the event. After a disappointing DNF at Challenge Melbourne (due to a flat tire) I was adamant that I would complete my first Half Ironman distance before the seasons end. After tossing up between Geelong 70.3 and Challenge Batemans, I decided that I required a small break to recollect my thoughts and passion to race again so I turned my focus to Batemans (which was 6 weeks away).” Click here to continue reading…
