WORD FROM THE COACHES

The 2011/2012 Triathlon Season is now officially done and dusted after we held our End of Season presentation Night on Saturday Night. With 150 athletes, friends and family letting their hair down, celebrating athletes achievements, and dancing the night away. Click here to read our wrap up and view pictures from the evening.

On Saturday Night, Tri Alliance also made a big announcement with new Partners – GIANT Bicycles and Stratton Finance, who will both play a major role with the squad. Along with the long awaited announcement of the new TAHQ! Click here to read more and to find out where our new location is set to be!

Moving onto this week – time trials. If you haven’t read communication about time trials CLICK HERE. Please note details in this communication are different to the May Training Timetable, so please ensure you read so you know where and when you should attend.

This weekend we also have a couple of athletes running in the Great Ocean Road Marathon. Good luck to Doug Wates and Peter Tucker. Good luck boys!

WINTER SEAON TRAINING CAMP – FINAL NUMBERS

We are currently finalising our numbers for the Winter Season Training Camp at Lorne – being held on Queens Birthday Weekend. SWIM SESSIONS AT MSAC ON MONDAYS – SEEKING YOUR FEEDBACK

Pool lane space at MSAC is a premium, and we have been lucky enough to receive  additional lanes on a Monday Night at 6.00pm. We are seeking your feedback, as we plan to change Monday Swims at MSAC to the following:

  • 6.00-7.15pm – Advanced & top intermediate (2-3 lanes)
  • 7.15-8.15pm – Beginners & top intermediate (2-3lanes)
This would mean no Monday morning beginner swim session – as it is incorporated into the Monday Night session.

So if you swim or plan to swim on Mondays at MSAC, could you please complete the following quick survey to provide your feedback. Without your feedback we are unsure on how this change may affect you.

ATHLETE RACE QUESTIONNAIRE – WHAT RACES ARE YOU PLANNING?

We have had 110 of our 240 athletes complete our Athlete Race Questionnaire – are you one of them? If you aren’t keep reading! We need to know what races you are planning for the 2012/2013 Season.

By knowing and understanding which races you are targeting for the season, we can ensure you are on the correct training program and are receiving relevant communication and information about these races/events. So we ask for you to complete the following Athlete Race Questionnaire.

Even if you are yet to lock races in (we are aware a number of races have yet to have dates locked in), please complete this survey of your intentions to race. This is for YOUR benefit, so the sooner you complete, the sooner our coaches can ensure you on the correct path towards your race goals. CLICK HERE to complete the questionnaire. (CLOSES THIS FRIDAY 19 MAY)

ATHLETE TEAM MEETING

Our next athlete team meeting is being held on Tuesday 29 May. Make sure you lock this one into the diary! Further details will be out next week.

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING TRAINING

Have you started your strength & conditioning training? If not you better get started now! Strength & conditioning in the early phases of your training program is important to develop a strong body, lessening the chances of injury and aid in power development and we all know more power means faster times!

Incorporating strength and conditioning now will have a direct impact on your training particularily the next phase of our training program – being volume and strength. Which incorporates hill training – run and bike and strength in the pool (paddles and bands!). So do not put off your strength training any longer – programs are in your toolkits and can be easily accessed via your smart phone. The smart phone app has had recent changes which makes viewing your programs even easier! So if you haven’t got it on your phone make sure you read instructions HERE on how to download.

At Swim, Ride and run sessions over the next four weeks, we will also be incorporating a component of strength training, this will similar some of the exercises in your strength program – so make sure you check them out. This will also mean if you have a thera-band you will need to bring along to swim sessions. So pack one into your swim bag. We have some spares but if you have one we ask for you to bring yours – or get your hands on one.
