Good Luck to KBS participating in Expedition Adventure Race this weekend
Kristine Banks-Smith
I agreeded a few months ago to join Team SA Ambulance after their female fell sick for the upcoming XPD race which is hosting the World Adventure Racing Championships www.xpd.com.au. For those who I may not have told it is 700-800km of Moutain biking, Kayaking and Trail running/ Trekking non-stop except for the compolsury 6h rest period half way through.

The boys (Morgan, Owen, Scott) and myself are all first timmers so our aim at this point is to just finish. It is going to be the most extreme challange I have taken on yet given the physical and mental strength that will be required, but I figure we only live once.

The race is now just over a week away, starting on November the 2nd and we are hoping to come in around the 8 days mark, with the winners expected to come in around the 5-6 day mark. During the race we will be wearing a device which I have told most of you about that allows you to track me and the boys on our journey. In addition we are made to write a couple of blogs along the way at certain check points. To following us on our journey just head to the website www.xpd.com.au  which I believe once the race starts will be updated on the main page with a section for you to click on and see where we are at.

In addition I thought I would mention that as a side project we are raising funds for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), so if anyone would liek to support a great cause please follow the link to our fundraising page http://www.teamcurediabetes.org.au/sa_ambulance_adventure_racing. I guess it is my duty as the accountant to remind you that donations are tax deductable. In addition there will be some great prizes up for grabs to those who donate from our sponsors such as Pentonvilain.

Hopefully I’ll see most of you on my return! KBS

(Good luck Kristine – from everyone at Tri Alliance!!)

Tri Alliance Annual Christmas Celebrations!
We are currently busily planning our Christmas Celebrations this year and have agreed on the date on Sunday 11 December – post Race 2 of the Gatorade Series (seperate venue in the afternoon). Due to the large number of races in December, it’s been hard to choose a date and unfortunately it does also fall on the Canberra Half, but we couldn’t fit another date onto what is an already very busy calendar.
So stay tuned for further communications as we have a fun afternoon planned for athletes, friends, family and even the kiddies!!

HANRESS YOUR MIND, IMPROVE YOUR PERFORMANCE

When harnessed, the mind is an extremely powerful tool and the power it can have over the body can be extrodinary. We have all watched clips of althetes continuing in a race when their body has just about shut down. Of athletes going above and beyond what their bodies are capable of simply by focussing their mind. The ‘never give up’ is not giving up when your body has had enough, but never giving up when your mind wants to.

Tri Alliance is excited to align with The Performance and Sport Psychology Clinic (PSPC) to assist athletes inmprove their performance and help achive their goals. “We have met personally with Daniel and Dane from PSPC and we believe they are the right fit for our squad and athletes, bringnig a professional and different approach to Sports Psychology” Head Coach Ollie Allan said of the relationship formed between Tri Allaince and PSPC.
