Congratulations and well done to everyone who came out and rode on Saturday 6 Aug and for those who participated in the Will Walker Challenge!
In what one can only call ‘four seasons in one day’, riders started their ride in the sunshine, but the conditions soon changed as we commenced the 7.2km climb in the pouring rain. Half way up the climb a bright flash quickly followed by thunder and we soon learnt it wasn’t one of the cameras going off but a lightning bolt from above! The conditions didn’t deter us though as riders kept progressing to the finishing line where they were greeted by spectators and fellow athletes. Our roving reporter (Leigh!) got some great post challenge footage and interviews, including an interview with Challenge winner Matt Lewis who smashed the climb in 18:30min. Next up was Nathan Sims in 20:40min and Matt Green low 21 mins. Great effort boys!

The Challenge was not finished there though, as our athletes continued around the Kinglake/Whittlesea ride in preparation for the Genovese Kinglake Ride on Sund 11 September. Groups 1&2 ended up with a very solid ride between 120-135km, including through ‘Cadel’s Training Ground’ around Authurs Creek.
To continue with the theme of the day though, the weather changed for the third time and with only km’s to go, we were greeted with hail around Studley Park. Nothing like finishing off a solid ride dripping wet!
A big thankyou goes out to Jess Gulley, Penny Potter and Leigh Schnerring who helped make the ride a success. Jess & Penny helped at the start and finishing lines & Penny taking some happy snaps up the climb aswell and Leigh for being our roving reporter at the finish line. Top job Leigh!
