Recovery and Time Trial Week! This week we have our second round of swim time trials, and our first bike time trials. Make sure you read below to ensure you know whats happening at each session and which sessions you should be attending this week.
Remember recovery sessions and/or recovery week is adaption. It allows the body to adapt to the training load to grow and improve. We cannot reinforce this enough – so if you feel like you need to chat to a coach about your recovery call us in the office on 9645 223 or chat to us at a session this week.
Time Trials  (swim in particular) will provide us (and you) with a guideline on which sessions you can attend based on your training level/ability. So make sure you keep an eye out on details around this. To give you a guide, we will have 4 swimming levels like last year. Beginner, Low intermediate, High Intermediate and Advanced. These will be outlined based on swim time trial results and will set your swim level for the next 6 weeks until the next time trials. So make sure you don’t miss out!
BIKE TIME TRIALS – THIS SATURDAY
Our first round of Bike Time Trials this weekend, and it’s always exciting to see athletes line up and see where they are at at this time of the year. Don’t worry if you think you are behind on training, it’s about setting a bench mark and using it as motivation. So make sure you read all details regarding our time trials this weekend. Click here for full details.
SOLOMON TRAIL RUN – STUDLEY PARK, THIS SUNDAY
This Sunday is the first Race of the Solomon Trail Run Series. This event is scheduled as part of our training this weekend, with distances to suit all levels – 5km, 11km and 15km. We recommend all athletes put this event on their calendar and why not encourage some of your friends/family to join in our come along and watch. We will have the TA TAJ at the venue and breaky afterwards. It’s still not too late to enter, so click here to find out more.
COACHES SHADOWING AT SESSIONS
You may have noticed a couple of athletes shadowing our Coaches over the last few weeks as part of them completing a Level 1 Triathlon Coaches Development Course. This course is open to anyone who wants to learn more about coaching and receive a Level 1 Triathlon Coaching Accreditation. Tri Alliance has had a number of athletes complete this course in the past 12 months – some may have aspirations for Coaching, others simply to learn more. So not everyone who does this course will continue through to coaching with Tri Alliance, but we will support athletes through the process if they choose to complete the course. You can read more here if you are interested in developing your own skills and knowledge in Triathlon.
MONTHLY DINNER
Our next monthly athlete dinner is scheduled for Thursday 4 July, returning to Cafe Rosco after they looked after us so well last month! Dinner of choice was a toss up between the rissoto, any selection of their pizza or some couldn’t go past the trusty parma.
So come and join us next month to get to know one another, and enjoy a great feed at the same time. If you are new – don’t be shy! Click here for more details and to RSVP.
RUN MELBOURNE
We have athletes in their final run training phases for Run Melbourne, with long run distances now up around 16-18kms depending on the athlete. If you feel you need to chat to a coach about your final weeks leading into this event, please contact the office on 9645 2223. Or chat to one of our run coaches at a session.
This is always a fantastic event in Melbourne, and even if you aren’t running, it’s a great chance to get down along the yarra and share the journey with others – particularly those doing their first 10km or half marathon event.
MELBOURNE MARATHON TRAINING
If you are competing in an event at Melbourne Marathon – including the 5km, 10km Half or Full Marathon we ask for you to complete the following survey. This survey will help us ensure athletes receive the correct run program, support and guidance leading into these events. Further communication will be sent out Monday next week to those who complete this survey. If you do not complete this survey then you will not receive information Click here to the survey.
We have 15 weeks to the Melbourne Marathon, and the training you have been doing up to this point has allowed your body to condition, but the next 15 weeks will see you long run distances increase and you build the endurance and strength required to complete a marathon. Remember – the long run is the back bone of marathon training, so make sure you don’t miss out on this.
GOOD LUCK TO ATHLETES IN FRANCE!

We’ll all be very jealous!!
