WORD FROM THE COACHES
This year’s Lorne Winter Triathlon Training Camp has been described as the best Triathlon Training Camp to date by Head Coach Ollie Allan who has been running this camp for the last 15odd years. What an amazing experience for those attending their first camp and those returning from previous years.
Athletes completed between 2-4hours of riding each day and 45min-1.5hours of running, along with a fresh and fun open water swim and plenty of seminars and workshops to learn as much as they could in just 4 days. We had a great mix of athletes levels and abilities including beginners, seasoned athletes, advanced athletes and those new to the squad. What a fantastic experience for everyone to enjoy the weekend literally training, eating and sleeping triathlon.
What our athletes are saying…
- “Totally amazing, yet again, but this one was the best ever! Thanks to all the amazing coaches, the other athletes, the brilliantly beautiful Lorne and this year’s spectacular weather!” Sonia
- “Thanks for an awesome weekend. Really well polished and organised, loads of fun and bloody hard!” Tim
- “The Lorne Winter Training camp was the perfect opportunity to work as part of the TA Team, increase my training load and gain essential information from the coaches, seminars and workshops. Most importantly, the camp experience allowed me to build my self-confidence as a triathlete by encouraging me to believe in my abilities and providing me with the reassurance that my body will do what my minds tells it to do!” Michelle
Thanks to every athlete that attended and committed to the training over the weekend, big rewards over the next couple of weeks for you all! A big thank-you also to our Coaches Emma, Ryan, Dazza, Des, Sarah and Ollie for putting on a fantastic camp. Click here to enjoy just a small selection of snap shots from the weekend.
*Stay tuned for our next camps coming soon….
IRONMAN CAIRNS – RACE OF THE YEAR?!!!
Tri Alliance athlete Marina Jurjevic was in the form and shape of her Ironman racing career (this being IM #5) and we new all going to plan this was going to be a great race. Well it wasn’t just that, it was a phenomenal race!
Marina not only won her age group, she was first female age grouper across the line, 6th fastest female overall (including pro’s!), set the female age group course record and earnt a spot to Hawaii Ironman World Championships. She wont be taking her spot this year as she has a prior commitment on the same weekend, but she will be back in contention when she takes on Ironman Western Australia again in December this year.
What an amazing achievement Marina – the Coaches, athletes and all of the Tri Alliance family are extremely proud of your achievement. An absolutely amazing effort!
“Wow! What an unbelievably amazing day Ironman #5 turned out to be. Not only did I win my age group, but I finished as fastest non-professional female overall. Could not have asked for a better result. Personal bests in all disciplines for an overall time of 10:00:14. A little sad not to have broken 10 hours but given the tough conditions I’m stoked and definitely pushed as hard as I could. Got to the start line in the best shape of my life, definitely proving that hard work pays off.
So many people to thank. First and foremost to my coach Ollie Allan and Tri Alliance. You’ve been there since the beginning of my Ironman journey and I can’t thank you enough for your ongoing support and everything you’ve done. The support from fellow TA athletes is always amazing and special mention to Mark Allan Turner and the TA QLD crew for all the support out on course.
Huge thanks also to Marty and Giant bikes for hooking me up with a wicked new ride. Proof is in the pudding with a serious bike split!
I won’t be heading to Kona this year due to family commitments so Busselton 2013 watch out, I’ve got a job to get done! Race report coming soon!” Marina Jurjevic, 1st place 30-34F, Ironman Cairns 2013.
