QTS RABY BAY –BEGINNER COURSE GRADUATION
Our latest beginner course group will finish their course this Sunday at the QTS race at Raby Bay. Coaches Ray and Brad have done a great job in taking them through their course and they’re all looking forward to the race on Sunday.
Our beginner courses continue to be a great way to introduce people to the sport of triathlon. You only need to look at people like Alicia Newman who did our first ever Women’s only beginner course back in 2008. Since then Alicia has gone on to lose over 30kg and is now a place getter at an IM event after her 3rd place last Sunday at IM WA.
Whether it is weight loss, doing an IM or just a lifestyle change, triathlon becomes part of a person’s life. New friends, travel and new challenges are what make this sport so much fun to be part of. Being able to introduce people to these benefits through our beginner courses is something we enjoy and will continue to do.
To celebrate them finishing the course and meet our newest members join us on Sunday after the race at the Plough Inn, Southbank from 4pm. It is also a chance kick back after a big year for some relaxed Christmas drinks.
FACEBOOK PHOTO COMPETITION
Start sending in your best at work photos for this month’s facebook competition. The previous 2 months have been great and this month’s should show another side to people outside what we normally see at training.
Thanks again to Shoes Feet Gear at Paddington for their support in sponsoring this competition.
IM WA RACE REPORT
Congratulations to all our IM WA athletes on their efforts last Sunday at Busselton. It was a tough, hot and windy day. Have a read of the race report and check out results at http://qld.tri-alliance.com.au/2012/12/12/busso/
LONG COURSE EVENTS
Our next major long course squad event is Cairns IM in June. In the full IM we have 29 people competing with another 22 competing in the 70.3IM race. We also have a large contingent heading out to the Hell of the West in February and another 6 people racing IM Melbourne and 2 heading to IM New Zealand in March.
Our long course program will kick off again in January after the Christmas break. We’ll also be having an IM information night in late January to talk about all things long distance.
MOOLOOLABA CAMP
Our annual Mooloolaba training camp is on again from February 9-11 at Mooloolaba. This year we’re staying at Spinnaker Keys right in the centre of Mooloolaba near Underwater World.
Cost is $330 which covers accommodation for 2 nights, lunch and dinner on Saturday, training sessions, recovery drinks and snacks and a sponsors pack worth well over $50. Send an e-mail to [email protected] to secure your spot.
Whilst there is an obvious growth and popularity around long distance racing, races like Mooloolaba, Noosa, Byron Bay, the Qld Club Champs series and the QTS series are all a very important part of our training and racing calendar. These camps go along way to help our members prepare to race these shorter course events well.
As always we’ll go over all parts of the Mooloolaba course for those racing, get in some great training and have a few laughs. For those people competing in IM New Zealand and IM Melbourne the camp would be great to do as part of their build up.
