TRAINING

As we’re getting closer to the key races for the end of 2012 we have had some time trials in training.  Congratulations to everyone who have set some pb’s as it will give some much needed confidence for the races ahead.

A couple of pb’s worth noting are Dean Thurgood’s 800m swim time trial of 9.43 which is a squad record and Merinda Eckart running under 12.00 for the first time in the 3km run after years of trying and hard work.

Time trials are an important part of training as we need to test our progress to ensure the training is on track.  Additionally many people start to stress a little when they’re racing the clock and dealing with that stress or nervous tension is also great preparation for races.  The better you can handle any nerves and stress that might come with racing the better your overall result will be.

The interval type training that we are doing will continue to help finish of the strength endurance work that was done in the previous months.  The long course athletes are now in their specific conditioning stage spending a lot of time riding and running on the flat to help prepare them for the Busso course.

Please note a change to our meeting location for Tuesday mornings run. Starting from 16th October we will be meeting on the grass in South Bank Parklands directly opposite the Garage Cafe at 176 Grey Street.

AMBASSADOR BLOG

One of our new Tri Alliance ambassadors Claire Schneider has written a blog about her recent experiences at the IM camp.  It is a great read so go to http://qld.tri-alliance.com.au/2012/10/09/tri-alliance-queensland-ironman-camp-2012/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=tri-alliance-queensland-ironman-camp-2012

Next week our other ambassador Darrell Giles has a great read on his journey of the last couple of years and his start in triathlon.

QLD TRI SERIES

This weekend’s race is now officially sold out which is great to see.  As a major sponsor of the series for the first time we’re expecting a great turnout as it is the final hit out for those athletes going to Worlds and Noosa.

It is also the graduating race for our beginner course athletes. To celebrate we’ll be having a bbq after the race so bring along your family and friends and join us at the Tri Alliance tents.  We’ll have two 8 x 4m tents in the club area and a 4 x 4m information tent in sponsors row.

The new series organiser from the Event Crew are very experienced at event management and promise to make the series bigger and better than previous years.

Remember all Tri Alliance members can register at our tents on Sunday and avoid lining up with other competitors.
