ROUTINE BEATS MOTIVATION EVERY TIME
As we get ever so close to the first races of the 2012/13 season it has been great to see numbers at training high. Despite the cooler mornings and early starts, squad members have been putting in some hard work to help them prepare for what is going to be a big season.
So what is it that seperates those from the ones that are still in bed or coming up with excuses not to train? Some would say they are more motivated and are prepared to work harder. Obviously that would be the logical answer however but motivation is not endless.
What is not limited is routine. When training becomes part of a person’s routine just like brushing their teeth, it is then that they start to see some results. Improvement comes from consistent weekly, monthly and yearly training so if your training becomes part of your life routine then the motivation is secondary.
No matter what commitments you have in life around family, work etc there is always time to train. Maybe that is only a 30 min run but a 30 min run done consistently will yield improvements. It could be running or riding to work, swimming at lunch time or getting up early before the family wakes to get your training done.
When it is part of your routine, you will find time. As a general rule it takes about 3 months to establish a routine which is also about the time motivation runs out for most people.
Establish a good routine and you will be surprised at how easy it becomes to get up on those cold mornings.

QUEENSLAND TRIATHLON SERIES
The Queensland Triathlon Series or the Gatorade series as it is more commonly known has a new team behind it. The Event Crew have taken over the series from USM as they focus more on the IM branded events.
The team from the Event Crew are very experienced at event management. The series will be the same as previous years with the same locations and race distances.
Tri Alliance are a major sponsor of the series which means we can offer race entry discounts to our members that compete. Tri Alliance members will be given a code that will give them $30 off a series entry and $5 off an individual race entry.
The first race at Raby Bay is on October 14th so it is a great lead up race for Worlds and Noosa. Go to www.qldtriseries.com.au to sign up.
FEEDBACK
As we mentioned last week we would provide some answers to the feedback we have received about the decision to change to Tri Alliance. Keep any queries you have coming as we are happy to answer them for you.
Website
The Tri Alliance website will be undergoing a major overhaul in the near future. We are currently working on some exciting components to the website that will benefit all Tri Alliance members.
Our main priority was to get the website live which would help us then work through any issues that arise.
We realise it is obviously different to what we had previously but in time the new website will become more user friendly for all members.
Rebranding
The rebranding process will take time. Changing all our advertising material, uniforms, vehicles, tents, trailers and website is a lengthy process.
We should have new uniforms by September and as mentioned there will be a buy back policy on our standard range of gear. The Elite range from Rocket Science will not have the buy back policy attached to it.
We have been asked if it is okay to wear BTS and GCTS gear in the interim. You have to wear something when training and racing so yes.
SAMOA SWIM SERIES
Our famous big man from Samoa, Ray Ruepena recently travelled home to compete in the inaugural Samoa ocean swim series. Ray took with him some swimming equipment to donate to some of the local children. This equipment will allow these children to participate in learn to swim programs and promote swimming in Samoa.
When Ray first started triathlon he could not swim and has since gone on to compete at the World Championships, complete an IM and become a level 1 triathlon coach. He is a very important and well respected member of the Tri Alliance coaching team.
Hopefully his story will show other kids from Samoa that anything is possible in a country where Triathlon and swimming is certainly not a main stream sport that kids have access to.
Thanks to everyone that donated some equipment for this great cause. Please see the photo with some of the equipment.
MONTHLY BREAKFAST
Our social committee have arranged a monthly breakfast for after training on a Friday morning. Now that the swim and wind trainer are from the pool every Friday morning a social breakfast afterwards is a great way to finish the week.
Starting this Friday and then on the first Friday of each month the breakfast will be at the Buzz café Emporium.
