Tri Alliance would like to sincerely thank everyone for their overwhelming support following the devastating news of losing Coach John Cornish in a tragic cycling accident on Friday 22 July.
Thank you to everyone who attended the gathering on Saturday at both venues and we received many more messages of support from those who were unable to attend. It just shows how much JC meant to us all and it is comforting to know the impact John had on all our lives and that we can all lean on each other for support in a time of need. JC would be extremely proud of each one of you.
Tri Alliance would also thank the Victorian Police, in particular Sergent Helen Poke and her team for their support to Tri Alliance, friends and family. Helen and her team went above and beyond the call of duty to assist us and we will be forever grateful. Should you need to seek further support or assistance, there is a free counselling and support service offered by Road Trauma Support Services http://www.rtssv.org.au/counselling-and-support.
To Johns mum Sue, father Kerry and sister Janine, we continue to share this lose with you and offer our deepest condolences and support. Rest easy in knowing that John was loved, respected and looked up to by all that knew him. He will never be forgotten.
John’s funeral is being planned for 3pm this coming Friday in Hobart, full details will be available tomorrow once his family confirms. His family has requested if anyone has photos of John or a story or two they would be very grateful if you could email to [email protected] They are putting together things for his funeral and appreciate that Melbourne was such a huge part of who he is so want to make sure they are included. So please take the time go through your albums.
We will also be planning a memorial ride and gathering for JC in Melbourne in the next couple of weeks so you can pay your respects and celebrate his beautiful but far too short life. Further details will be communicated once we make arrangements and confirm details with his family.
Tri Alliance training sessions this week currently remain unchanged as per our training timetable. however, please understand we may take a little longer to respond to email queries and may need to reschedule any appointments we have booked in this week.
Remember to hold onto your memories of JC so he can live on with us forever. Remain positive, stay strong and lean on others for support. Let’s make JC proud.
Forever rest in peace JC.
John Bradley Cornish
