Now that winter is here and the racing season slows down after this weekend we have made some minor changes to the Brisbane squad training program.

Theses changes are:

– The Thursday morning run is now Thursday evenings from 6pm at the Kangaroo Point Cliffs Cafe.

– The Thursday night and Friday morning swims have stopped and the Thursday morning swim will now be for all abilities.

– Wednesday morning rides for June will be coffee/latte rides.  Easy group rides with longer stops for coffee afterwards.

– Saturday mornings for June will be a run focus in preparation for the different running events through the Winter.

The changes are for the next couple of months only and once we get closer to the first events of the 2013/14 season in September we will revert back to the normal calendar.

It is a good idea to change the focus slightly in Winter after such a long season. It gives everyone a chance to reduce the intensity of training and do something different like longer group runs on Saturday mornings and mid week latte rides.

The Gold Coast program will stay as is and like Brisbane the training focus will be different.  Lots of technique work in the pool at St. Hildas, Southport and some easy group rides also on a Tuesday morning for June.

The Wednesday morning fartlek runs through the trails at Main Beach, Southport have been a hit and will continue through the winter to build strength.

As always consistency and a good routine through winter will help prepare you for the upcoming race season.  Motivation is limited but a good routine is unlimited and once you have that routine, training through winter becomes a lot easier.

After the success of our last run technique course with the team from Shoes Feet Gear we will be offering another one starting Monday June 17th.

Winter is the perfect time to work on the technical side of running and led by expert biomechanist, Jaryd from Shoes Feet Gear this 6 week course will help improve your efficiency, reduce the risk of injury and lead to faster run times.

Places are limited so e-mail [email protected]   if you would like to register.

Thanks to everyone who sent in photos for the May photo of the month competition.  We had some fantastic race shots to choose from.

In the end the winner was the shot of Tim Coles crossing the line at IM Australia in May. Tim wins a $50 voucher from Shoes Feet Gear for his efforts.

With June being our social month we’re after the photos that show the social side of triathlon.  Photos of the friends and experiences that you have shared with your triathlon friends.

This weekend we have almost 70 athletes heading to Cairns to compete in the IM and 70.3 IM events.  With about a 50/50 split of those doing the full IM and half IM it will be a great day.

Everyone has trained hard and looking forward to the race.  We will post photos and updates on the FB page and you can also follow everyone’s progress on line on the race website.

On behalf of everyone of the whole coaching team at Tri Alliance we wish them the very best.  Yesterday we had a pre race lunch which included a video to help them get ready for race day.  You can view it at ttps://

If you order anything in the month of June there will be no shipping charges incurred.  With winter now upon us there is new cycling and winter gear in stock.
