GREETINGS OF THE SEASON
Happy New Year to everyone. Hopefully the festive season was an enjoyable one and time to spend with those closest to us. No doubt there was an over indulgence of eating and drinking which means now is the perfect time to get back into a training routine.
There is something about the new year that allows people to re set their goals, establish new routines and make promises to themselves that they will train more, eat less chocolate and drink less coffee.
Hopefully you’re goals for 2014 will be achieved but more importantly the year will be a safe and enjoyable one.
WHAT’S COMING UP
Racing
Racing wise there is much to look forward to. The QTS series continues at Robina this weekend, Mooloolaba is only 9 weeks away and then onto Luke Harrop and Byron Bay. For our long course athletes there is Hell of the West, IM New Zealand, IM Melbourne and then the big one at IM Cairns.
On the training front it is time to get back into a routine and a structure of some solid interval work especially for those targeting the short course events. For the long course athletes it will be a menu of strength work.
Sunshine Coast Tri Alliance
We have a new squad commencing on the Sunshine Coast in early February. There will be a launch on Friday February 7th at Custom Bike Fit Studio Maroochydore and sessions will start on Monday February 10th.
In the coming week we will release details of the program and the coaches taking the sessions. All current Tri Alliance Qld members will be able to train at any of our locations at Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast as part of their training fees.
As we do now we’ll arrange events through out the year where members of each location can get together socially and for training.
Tri Alliance Juniors
Our junior program will also kick off in early February at Colmslie in Brisbane and Helensvale and Miami pools on the Gold Coast. Catering for ages from 10-16 and all abilities we look forward to teaching kids all about this wonderful sport.
The time tables and costs will also be released in the coming week.
MOOLOOLABA TRAINING CAMP
We still have spots left for our Mooloolaba training camp from Fri Jan 24 to Mon Jan 27th. This camp is great opportunity to lift your training and racing to another level for the races ahead. The camp caters for all abilities and distances.
We would especially encourage athletes new to the squad to come along as they are a great opportunity to learn more about training and racing. Plus it is a perfect time to meet other squad members in a relaxed and fun environment.
Full details of the camp are at http://qld.tri-alliance.com.au/qld-training-camps-2/
TRY THE TRI COURSE
Our next Try the Tri course starts next week in both Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Places are still available for both courses and course participants will finish with the QTS race at Raby Bay on February 23rd.
These courses are a perfect way to introduce people to the sport of triathlon so if you know of anyone that has thought about doing a triathlon but not sure where to start this is the place.
