Tri Alliance have 38 athletes who are running in the Run Melbourne Half Marathon on Sunday 15 July 2012, with an additional 17 athletes running in either the 5km or 10km events, so it’s always a great event to be involved in. If you are participating in one of the events at Run Melbourne, keep reading.
Half Marathon Training:
Run Melbourne is now 8 weeks away, and for those athletes who are currently on either our Short Course or Long Course Program AND completed our Athlete Race Questionnaire you will now see a Run Melbourne Half Marathon Program in your athlete toolkit. So log on and check out the 8 week program. We remind you that the easiest way to view your training program is via your SMART Phone. So if you haven’t already, read the attached to find out how!
You can now use this program to view RUN sessions specific for the Half Marathon. These sessions are scheduled as either replacement run sessions OR additional run sessions to your triathlon training program. So please ensure you use the Run Melbuorne Run Program in addition to your Triathlon Training Program. These will run concurrently for the next 8 weeks.
Training sessions will build up over the next 8 weeks including specific run sessions on Thursday Nights for Half Marathon runners, and Tuesday morning run sessions kicking off on Tuesday 29 May specifically for Half Marathoners. Please keep an eye out for communication regarding these sessions.
If you cannot see a program in your toolkit this may be because you are on a social program which does not provide you access to training programs OR you did not complete our Athlete Race Questionnaire. If you are on our social program and would like to receive a program for the Run Melbourne Half Marathon, please email [email protected] to upgrade your training program. If you think you should be able to view the run program but can’t, please also contact us.
5km and 10km Training
If you are running in the 5km or 10km events your run training will remain as normal. You will follow your standard triathlon training programs (whether that be Short or Long Course Program) Advanced 5km and 10km runners may also wish to attend the Tuesday AM sessions, but please speak to a coach to ensure this is right for you.
As these events are early in the season it is important to remember that most athletes will not be at their peak. These events over winter are used mainly for training purposes as we are still in our base endurance and technique phase, and not our race specific phase. So ensure you use this as additional training to your current program, rather than aiming for a personal best. However if you have this event as one of your A Grade Races for the Season, then please contact us so we can chat further.
Keep an eye out also for further communication over the next 8 weeks leading into the event, and happy training!
