In memory of John Cornish
29 November 1978 – 22 July 2011

John Cornish was an outstanding coach, mentor, role model and friend to the Tri Alliance Team. He was caring, inspiring and motivating with a fun loving soul. In everything he did, it was all or nothing. He was hard working and dedicated, lived life with a passion and influenced everyone he touched.

Sadly he was taken way from the Tri Alliance family and his own family far too soon in a tragic cycling accident on Beach Road Melbourne on  Friday 22 July 2011. His passing left the Tri Alliance family and the wider triathlon and cycling community in deep shock. However, his life will never be forgotten and his memories will forever live on with us.   View our video montage in memory of JC…

JC’S VISION

Prior to his accident, JC was entrenched in creating and naming a room in the TA Office where athletes can train, be tested and our Retul Bike Fit’s be performed – the heart of the TA Office.  This was the last project JC was working on before his accident.  In honour and memory of JC, Tri Alliance will now be following through with his vision – and complete what he started.
The first stage of this project is to name the room in his honour…..read more

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE SOCK HEIGHT!
As a professional Triathlete and Cyclist, John was passionate about his look. Everything must match – Red shoes? Red Sunnies! White shoes? White Sunnies! He was also fanatical about the length of the cycling sock – “It’s all about the sock height”!

So in his memory, we are designing a Cycling sock for athletes, friends and family to purchase in his honour. True JC style, they will be 6″ in height and will honour him with a black band with ‘in memory of JC – ride on”.

All funds raised on the sale of these socks will be donated to the Amy Gillett Foundation.
