TRI ALLIANCE SMIDDY FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
We have recently formed a partnership with the Smiddy Foundation to assist them with raising much needed funds for Cancer research. Some of you may be aware of the work they have already done and the $3 million plus they have already raised since 2006.
The Smiddy Foundation was formed in memory of a young triathlete, Adam Smiddy that died from an aggressive cancer in 2006, aged just 26. Cancer does not discriminate and can affect any of us at any time.
Tricia Scroggie, the wife of one of our long time members in Brisbane Paul Scroggie is currently battling Breast Cancer. Dean Thurgood one of our Gold Coast athletes and coaches battled and beat leukemia as a child . Additionally Geoff Bartlett and Jason Teren who are Gold Coast members also have close relatives fighting different forms of cancer.
Tri Alliance athletes who sign on to fundraise with Smiling for Smiddy will be exempt from monthly squad fees* for up to four months depending on the level of their fundraising. All you have to do is fundraise a set amount based on the length of your training. If you go to our fundraising page we have set up it explains everything http://www.smiddyfundraising.com.au/event/tri-alliance .
To launch the campaign and find out more about where the money will go we’re having an information night next Monday the 3rd of December. It will be held at the Mater Foundation, 588 Stanley Street, South Brisbane.
Parking is available at the end of Jacob Lane, South Brisbane or in the Mater Hill Car Park – access via Allen St. A parking pass will be provided for exit.
There will be no Monday night swim but we’ll be doing a run session from 5.30pm at the Mater Foundation. To kick off the fundraising we’ll be doing a raffle on the night for a $200 pair of Mizuno Shoes.
Our goal between now and Noosa 2013 is to raise $100,000. It all starts next Monday night so join us as we set about reaching the goal and help those who need it. The team from Tri Alliance Victoria will also be joining us helping raise the $100,000.

This weekend is the first race in the Tri Alliance club Aquathon Championship. Brisbane members will do an aquathon at Redcliffe while Gold Coast members will do theirs at Lake Humunz.

We’ll have another squad one in early January for those that can’t make it this weekend.

BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS
Thanks to everyone who have provided some great before and after photos in our monthly facebook competition. Some of the transformations especially around weight loss are incredible and it is truly inspiring to see how far they have come.
If you have a before and after photo that you would like to share please e-mail [email protected] before the end of the month. It doesn’t have to around weight loss and can be anything that shows a different you to the one we are used to seeing.
